If cracks happen is solid wood easily to repair and sanded down. With ongoing maintenance and use of olie, you will get a solid wood countertop which will continues develop and gain patina over time.
Some wood species such as Ash and Oak is even hygienic, as they contain a natural high acidic level.
Note: Thermal Oak, beech, and ash are working less and are therefore more suitable for bathroom.
